This Aluvion Vineyards Malbec wine "Forjado" is dark ruby red with purple hues. It displays a complex and intense bouquet with red ripe fruit like plum and raspberry with delicate spicy notes. It has an intriguing mouthfeel with silky tannins and good acidity. Black and red berry flavours lead to an excellent long finish. The 2016 growing season was cooler and wetter than usual. We aggressively managed the vineyard to control for this as is more common in European vineyards. This gave the wine a higher natural acidity and lower alcohol level. We also matured this 100% Malbec wine in a combination of first and second use French oak barrels. The result is an intense and full-bodied wine, which will drink well now and for many years to come. In 2019, this wine survived untouched by a fire driven by Zonda winds down East side of the Andes Mountains. We named this wine Forjado, which translates as Wrought, Shaped, or Formed, as a tribute to its formative years early during its bottle maturation process. As with most Malbec wines, we recommend decanting for up to 30 minutes and serving at a temperature of 16-18 degrees Celsius (61 - 64.5 degrees Fahrenheit).
