The Aluvion Vineyards Malbec wine "Ignifugo" is dark ruby red with purple hues. It displays a complex and intense bouquet with red ripe fruit like plum and raspberry with delicate spicy notes. It has an intriguing mouthfeel with silky tannins and good acidity. Black and red berry flavours lead to an excellent long finish. We delayed harvest in 2015 to achieve fresher and more complex profile for the wine. We also matured this 100% Malbec wine in a combination of first and second use French oak barrels. The result is an intense and full-bodied wine, which will drink well now and for many years to come. We thought it fit to name this wine for its immutable taste and nature, translating into English "Fireproof." In 2019, it survived untouched by a fire driven down the East side of the Andes Mountains by local Zonda winds. As with most Malbec wines, we recommend decanting for up to 30 minutes and serving at a temperature of 16-18 degrees Celsius (61 - 64.5 degrees Fahrenheit).
