• 1. Why is there no noise when not connected to the preamp, but noise occurs when connected?

Answer: This issue typically originates from the preamp board. First, verify whether the preamp board and power amplifier board are powered by separate power supplies. Some preamp boards exhibit noise with separate power supplies, while others do not—test each scenario individually. If noise persists in both configurations, test by inserting an audio isolator between the preamp board and power amplifier board to see if it eliminates the noise.

• 2. Sound stutters or cuts out when volume is increased, but plays normally at lower levels.

Answer:

Cause 1: Insufficient power supply capacity. This amplifier board delivers 120W total output power. For the power supply, we recommend a DC 24V voltage with approximately 5A current.

Cause 2: If the power supply is adequate, the issue may stem from mismatched speaker power. For example, connecting a 10W speaker to a 60W output will cause stuttering at high volumes and may damage the speaker.

• 3. Excessive noise during music playback, or persistent background noise even when no music is playing.

Answer: The amplifier board amplifies signals, and the primary source of noise is radio interference amplified by the board. Therefore, all amplifier boards inherently produce some noise. Use shielded audio cables whenever possible. Another potential cause is noise from the audio source itself. While standard smartphones and MP3 players typically do not exhibit this issue, it often arises with older preamp boards that are incompatible with our amplifier boards. Adding an audio isolator or testing with coupling capacitors may help eliminate the noise.
