Setup
- Deal 10 red cards face down to each player.
- Place the purple cards face down in the middle of the table.
- Starting with the lightest colored wine, pour everyone a drink of the same wine.
- Read the front of the wine label to all the players. Cover the label or place it out of sight from everyone.
- Nominate the first Master.
How To Play
The Goal: Be the first player to score 5 points.
How to Play (3-6 Players)
- The Master draws a purple card and reads it to all players.
- For Action and General cards, players choose a red card from their hand and place it in a pile.
- The Master shuffles the red cards and reads them aloud one by one.
- The Master then chooses their favorite answer.
- The player whose red card is chosen, or who answers the question correctly gets 1 point.
- Discard the used red cards and draw a new card.
- Continue playing by rotating the Master clockwise.
More Ways To Play
| The Big Vote | Instead of the Master having the final say, have every player vote for the best answer. The player who receives the most votes is awarded the point. |
| Changing Cards | If you’re unhappy with the cards in your hand, you may discard all 7 cards and pick up a new hand only when you are the Master. |
| More Cards | Deal the whole deck of red cards to each player. This will give you more cards to choose from to give a more accurate tasting note. |
| Test the Sommelier | Bring the game to a tasting room and have the Sommelier choose the best and most appropriate red card. This way, all players get to contribute a red tasting note card. |
| Education at a Vineyard | Choose a red tasting note card that you would like to explore. Hand it to the Sommelier at the vineyard and ask them to pour a tasting with that particular flavor profile. This is a great way to understand descriptions faster. |
