Ingredients
For the Chicken:
- 2 lbs chicken wings
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt, Cooking spray or a light oil for frying (like avocado oil)
For the Barbecue Sauce:
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp Blyss Monkfruit Sweetener
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Barbecue Fried Chicken
Directions:
For the Chicken:
Marinate: Combine wings and buttermilk in a bowl. Refrigerate 2 hours or overnight.
Coating: Mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, pepper, and salt.
Coat: Dredge wings in flour mixture after removing from buttermilk.
Cook: Fry in oil for 5-7 mins per side until golden. Bake at 400°F for 25-30 mins, flipping halfway.
For the Barbecue Sauce:
- Combine Ingredients: Mix tomato sauce, Blyss Monk fruit Sweetener, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a saucepan.
- Cook the Sauce: Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
- Coat the Chicken: Toss fried or baked chicken wings in the sauce until well coated.
Serving:
Serve the barbecue wings hot, garnished with sesame seeds and fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy with your favorite healthy sides
