What is AlterLock?

Alterlock is an advanced anti-theft alarm and GPS tracking device designed for a wide range of vehicles. Paired with our proprietary app, it allows you to monitor your ride from any distance.

When the device detects movement, a loud alarm is triggered, and a notification is sent instantly to your smartphone. In the unfortunate event of theft, Alterlock's GPS tracking feature will help you locate and recover your vehicle swiftly.

HISTORY

Founded in 2018, AlterLock is designed and developed in Tokyo, Japan by Nextscape Inc. to provide the latest high-tech solution against theft. As an IT company, Nextscape Inc. developed and continuously updates our app, promising fast and responsive updates to offer customers the best possible solution as soon as problems arise.

How AlterLock works

• AlterLock Gen3 is equipped with 3-axis accelerometer which is used to detect movement when in LOCK mode. When the device detects movement, data is sent over the network to inform and alert the user via push notification of the possible movement to take action.
• When the alarm is triggered for the second time, the device will go into tracking mode and starts sending location data. Location data is updated every time the device detects pause in motion. This is to increase the chance of recovery by logging the last stopped location to find your stashed vehicle.
• AlterLock will perform periodic transmission every 6~24 hours (depending on your setting) as a back-up option in case your vehicle is stolen when not in LOCK mode.
• Location history can be stored up to 30 locations for later analysis.
• *CAUTION AlterLock is NOT supported in the state of Alaska due to communication difficulties.

LOCK the device

Change the device to LOCK mode via the app, this will set the device ON and your device is now ready to monitor your vehicle.

User can choose from three different method to change modes.

• Via the app
• Physical button (works only when registered phone is within BLE distance)
• Auto Lock (automatically LOCK the device when BLE strength drops below certain level)

Alarm is set off

When movement is detected, a loud alarm sounding up to 95 dB is set off to deter theft. The detection sensitivity and alarm activation time can be adjusted to accommodate various situations.

• Alarm duration can be adjusted from 5 ~ 60 seconds (in 5 seconds increment).
• Alarm sound can be turned off to make the device work as silent alarm.
• 3 different tones to choose from.
• You can choose between up to three alarms or unlimited alarms.

Notification sent

Push notification is received via Bluetooth over short distances and LTE-M / NB-IoT transmission over long distances. A unique notification tone will alert you that you need to rush to the scene immediately to take action against possible theft.

Start tracking

AlterLock can track location by using

• GNSS(GPS, Galileo)
• Wi-Fi AP
• 4G cellphone towers

Using sophisticated algorithm, AlterLock will identify the method with highest accuracy to acquire its current position.

While in tracking mode, the device will collect location data whenever it sense stillness for few seconds.
