What is Saccharomyces cerevisiae (boulardii)?

Saccharomyces boulardii, or SB, a subspecies of S. cerevisiae, is a probiotic yeast which has a range of beneficial effects for digestive system health. One of the ways it promotes a healthy intestinal environment is by maintaining the integrity of the mucous lining of the intestinal wall. SB also support healthy immune function in the gut, and in turn, maintains immune system health, as well as general health and wellbeing.

Another way SB supports a healthy digestive environment is by encouraging the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut. When antibiotics are taken, SB can also be used concurrently to help restore friendly gut flora.
