Recognizing the contentious jockeying for control of Cobra and the increasing factions vying for power within the organization, Destro felt it advantageous to reprogram a contingent of the Battle Android Troopers who would answer solely to him. These Iron Grenadier B.A.T.s function as support units for Destro’s Elite Guard, the Iron Grenadiers, serve as sentries protecting his ancestral manor, and bolster his personal troops in the eventuality that civil war breaks out among the leadership of Cobra.

Modified with M.A.R.S. Industries operating systems designed by Destro himself, Iron Grenadier B.A.T.s never question orders, shirk duty, or surrender. They require no leave time, sick pay, or benefits of any kind. They are cheap and easy to replace. They exist simply to carry out the exacting orders of Destro, regardless of whether or not those orders further the goals of Cobra.
