- The history of Narmadeshwar Shiva Linga dates back to centuries and the formation of this Shiva Linga is very unique in its own right. Its believed that the waves of the Narmada River hits the stones in the river and thus this Linga forms its oval shape. However this process takes thousands of years together and that is why it is so auspicious. One can even hear the water inside the Linga when shaken.
- Narmada Shivling, Lingam (lingaṃ, linga, Shiva linga), is an abstract or iconic representation of the Hindu deity Shiva, used for worship in temples, smaller shrines, or as self-manifested natural objects
- The Narmada is one of the five holy rivers of India. The Ramayana, the Mahabharat, and the Puranas refer to it frequently. The Rewa Khand of Vayu Purana and the Rewa Khand of Skanda Purana are entirely devoted to the story of the birth and the importance of the river, and hence Narmada is also called the Rewa. Another legend says, once Lord Shiva, meditated so hard that he started perspiring. Shiva's sweat accumulated in a tank and started flowing in the form of a river the Narmada.
- Spiritual Growth: Worshipping the Shiv Ling is believed to aid in spiritual growth and self-realization. It helps individuals deepen their connection with Lord Shiva and attain a higher state of consciousness.
- Fixed Yoni Bases: These are permanently installed in temples or home shrines and are often part of a larger altar setup.
The Yoni base holds significant symbolism in the context of the Shivalingam. Representing the divine feminine energy, the Yoni symbolizes the cosmic womb, creation, and fertility. It is believed to embody the primordial power of Shakti, the universal mother and consort of Lord Shiva. The Shivalingam, when placed within the Yoni base, represents the unification of masculine and feminine forces, signifying the harmonious balance of creation and destruction, energy and consciousness. Together, the Yoni and Shivalingam serve as a powerful representation of the divine union and the interconnectedness of all aspects of existence.
