Wild Turkey 81 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey opens with a rich, full-bodied aroma with a hint of caramel, vanilla and a slight spiciness from the rye. There’s also a subtle oakiness, which adds depth to the fragrance. It's a high rye mash matured in heavily charred casks for big flavour at a more approachable ABV than the 101. Soft with sweet raisins, cinnamon, toffee popcorn and a touch of black pepper. There’s also rich sweetness in the form of vanilla, honey and caramelised bananas. Nice and spicy with clove and nutmeg perking up the honeyed fruit. Not too sweet (a good thing) and a good, solid punch of spicy fruit. The soft honey and vanilla notes sit well with the spice.
