Handling fire starter:
1. Remove the black protective layer from the spark rod before first use (scrape off or with sandpaper)
2. Prepare the tinder (e.g. birch bark or kienspan) and prepare further fuel material.
3. Use the straight side of the scraper to brush down firmly and quickly on the fire rod.
4. Hold the fire steel close and towards the tinder so that the sparks fall directly into the tinder.
