Decide a Perfect Place for Your GKU Dash Cam

The best place to put the dash cam is where you can easily use it. That means the camera view is unobstructed, you can easily remove it when needed, and it is discreetly placed. Please make sure to check if your dashcam uses a Type-C power interface.

Open the Fuse Box

It's recommended to turn off the vehicle before working on the fuse box! The fuse box is usually located under the dashboard, in the engine compartment, or in other areas like the side panel or glove box. Check the vehicle’s manual for the exact location. You may need to use tools such as a screwdriver.

Select the Correct Fuse Slot

Please look for the fuse box diagram in the vehicle's manual. It should indicate the location and purpose of each fuse. Typically, Yellow Wire - Constant Power: Central Locking, Remote Keyless Entry, Fuel Tank Lid, OBD. Red Wire - Accessory Power: Power Seats, Power Windows, Radio, Infotainment System.

Prepare to Connect

If you are using the previously identified fuse slot that has an existing fuse in it, then insert that existing fuse into the lower empty slot of the Add-A-Fuse with correct orientation.

However, if your previously identified slot is empty and there is no existing fuse in it, then you can just install the Add-A-Fuse directly without needing to install 2nd fuse into the empty slot of an Add-A-Fuse tap.

Connect the Red Wire and Yellow Wire

RED: Connect thered wire to the ACC fuse, which has no power when the car is off (voltage = 0 with the multimeter). It will have power when the engine is on.

YELLOW: Connect the yellow wire to the BATT fuse, which is always powered (voltage present even when the car is off). Use the multimeter to confirm: ACC fuse shows 0V when off, and BATT fuse shows voltage when off.

Ground the Hardwiring Kit

Slip the black wire under a metal bolt or screw in your vehicle (this is the ground wire). Check that it is not attached onto plastic parts. We recommend that you choose the metal Chassis Grounding Screw, or it may cause your dash cam to not function properly and restart/reboot when power does not flow properly.
