The answer to this question revolves around the following:

• Most learners have just a few hours per week to devote to learning
• Complicated topics can be simplified by focusing primarily on the Quran
• Topics should be written with English speakers specifically in mind, focusing on highlighting similarities and differences between English and Arabic instead of teaching Arabic in a vacuum.
• Understanding the Quran does not require the ability to actually speak or write Arabic, which means that these two skills can be de-emphasized while focusing primarily on reading.
• High-frequency vocabulary comes first: 10 words make up 25% of the Quran, 60 words make up 50% of the Quran, and around 500 words make up 80% of the Quran
