The new album from My Darling Clementine throws a spotlight on 12 gems from the Elvis Costello songbook and vividly reimagines them in the duets definitive country-soul styling. Released on Fretsore Records, Country Darkness is a collaboration between the singer-songwriter husband & wife team of Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish, and Grammy award winning, keyboard genius Steve Nieve (The Attractions / The Imposters) Offering a carefully considered and retrospective selection, Country Darkness sees them take on a representative range of Costellos ever-changing eras. From his work with the Attractions and the Imposters to cherry-picking some remarkable later solo efforts, as well as reappraising some of his inspired collaborations with Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn, Jim Lauderdale and Paul McCartney. The album was produced in collaboration between Nieve, King and Colin Elliot, who is renowned for his production work with Richard Hawley.
