No, it is not essential for its core purpose of running a 5.1 Surround Sound System. If you do, follow the simple setup procedure to add it into the MusicCast Controller Application to unlock a large variety of functionality.

If I am putting the RX-V6A into a cabinet how much space do I need around it?
To ensure effective airflow and heat dissipation, you should allow for around 20-30mm on each side and 40-50mm on top.

Do I need to use the YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer) Room correction tool that comes with the RX-V4A?
While it is not essential, we recommend using the YPAO system to setup your speaker system as it severs several roles to ensure you are getting the surround sound experience you have come to expect from a Yamaha Audio System.
