Note that the RB42-C is a passive speaker and requires an amplifier or receiver to produce sound. It cannot be connected directly to a TV, turntable or computer.
Each of the two 4" woofers is built on a cut off heavy steel frame and an essential magnetic structure. The long-throw design features a coated pressed paper cone with a concave dust cap, a large radius rubber surround and a vented pole piece. The tweeter is based on Micca's popular 3/4" silk dome design, with a highly efficient neodymium magnet and a small bezel for tight driver distances.
Distortion and staining are effectively reduced by using 3/4" thick MDF boards on all sides of the case, with 100% miter joints for a larger contact area. The case is filled to a certain density with polyfill to avoid resonance and improve the case mood. Translucent mesh over beveled, thin frame forms the acoustically transparent grill cover.
The RB42-C owes its tonal balance and transparency to a 10-element crossover that uses high-quality film capacitors and air core coils for key components. Both the tweeter and woofer circuits have a 18dB/octave tilt to improve power load, dramatically reduce lobbing, and superior off-axis performance. An audiophile 5-way binding post completes the package.
