Sequentia is one of the world’s most respected and innovative ensembles for medieval music. Benjamin Bagby leads this international group of singers and instrumentalists, dedicated to the performance and recording of Western European music from the period before 1300. Known for meticulous, original research together with intensive rehearsal and preparation, Sequentia’s virtuosic performances are compelling and immediate and strike the listener with an emotional connection to our own past musical cultures. The group celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2012. It specialises in the beautiful, timeless music of the famous German writer, composer, philosopher, mystic, Benedictine abbess, visionary and polymath Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179).
