Familial harmonies have always formed a bluegrass bloodline. Extending that lineage of family bands in bluegrass music is The Chapmans from Springfield, MO who emphasize the vocal blend of brothers John, Jeremy, and Jason Chapman over instrumentation that includes their banjoist father Bill, with support from fiddler Stuart Duncan, banjoist Noam Pikelny, dobroist Rob Ickes and Rhonda Vincent on duet/harmony vocals. Their new CD, GROWN UP, is dominated by ballads, bittersweet tales of lost love and stories of murder, with guitarist John's reedy tenor providing lead vocal amid soaring harmonies.
