It's been a busy year for Portsmouth's Gasman, what with playing live and starting his own label, and one can hear the influence of his support tour with the Cardiacs on Superlife, his ninth album. The record is full of beatless electronic lullabies such as "RXG3," which unsettles in all the best ways, and "Helpline," with it's distinct sense of the uncanny just around the corner. Opener "Ruter" is a majestic, synth-led carousel of notes where the Blackpool Pier meets '90s trance. It's another winner from The Gasman's trademark "Gaylord" sound.
