Hey Joe-Hey Uwe
Hey Joe-Hey Uwe
Uwe Kropinski (acoustic guitar, cajon), Joe Sachse (electric guitar, screw driver, brush)
Recorded at Studio Sixtyfour, Berlin, Germany,August 20 & 21, 2007
Jazz? Rock? Blues? Classical? Free improvisation? This is all of it and none of it, no matter whether you call it 'Music With Two Guitars', 'The Art Of The Duo' or 'Heavenly Guitar Music.' Guitar Sorcerer or High Priest of the Electric Guitar are just two of the bold labels repeatedly thrown in to describe the high-energy output of Sachse and Kropinski. Each of them a master of the guitar, they have both coined their instrument in completely different ways. On the one hand, Joe Sachse has focused on the electric guitar; blessed with an impressive sleight of hand, he is also a 'sound mechanic' who's not afraid to use even screwdrivers or other tools when need be. Uwe Kropinski, on the other hand,is a sensitive acoustic guitarist; he has mastered his specialty - rhythmic knocking on the soundboard while plucking the strings - to such perfection that listeners might think two guitarists were playing simultaneously. When Sachse and Kropinski play together, their music is less free, more like 'instant composing'; yet their approach to keep it formal fuels their wish to break out.
