A Touch of Heritage
Originating from the heart of the Lake District, Derwent has developed quality fine art materials since 1832. Throughout the years, this practice has gone into all of their products and the same care and detail has gone into their Graphik Collection.
- 2008 - move to a factory in Workington, opened by HM The Queen.
- 2014 - launch of the Graphik pens range.
A History of Derwent
- 1500s - graphite found in Borrowdale in Cumbria.
- 1832 - first recorded factory producing pencils in Keswick.
- 1941 - secret wartime pencil produced for aircrews in World War II.
- 1981 - the Cumberland Pencil Museum opens in Keswick, Cumbria.
- 1982 - Derwent pencils used to create the animation in the film The Snowman.
