    Shake the can thoroughly until indentations appear in the bottom of the can, then you’re ready to start spray painting!

    Spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Spray 25-40cm away from the object.

    4. Confirm recoat times


    Wipe nozzle clean with mineral turpentine after each use. Make sure you have read the instructions and know the recoat times.

  • Do I need to prime before I start my Chalked paint project?

    Priming is NOT required for most surfaces. For excellent coverage, a primer can be used on surfaces such as bare metal and treated wood. When applying a light colour over a dark surface, a primer is required to prevent tannin bleed.

  • Does Chalked paint apply in one coat for all surfaces?

    Chalked paint applies with one coat on most surfaces. When applying a light colour over a dark surfaces to get a full coverage, 1 – 2 additional coats may be required. You can apply up to 5 coats to any surface to get the desired look.

  • When painting furniture, do I need to remove doors and hardware?

    Like any project, removing cabinet doors and all cabinet hardware is recommended for a quicker application. It will be easier to achieve a smooth finish on doors when painting them while removed and lying flat.

  • Do I need a topcoat after using Chalked Ultra Matt paint?

    A topcoat, such as Chalked Ultra Matt Clear Topcoat, is recommended to be applied to wood or metal furniture to enhance the durability of its new spray paint. That will offer an extra layer of protection against chips or scratches.

  • How to clean up after using Chalked Ultra Matt paint?

    Spray Paint: Wipe off tip before storing, clean-up wet paint with xylene or mineral turpentine, and properly discard empty container.

    Brush-On: Clean brush and other and application tools immediately with soap and water.
