Opinel

The Opinel originated in France at the end of the 19th century. In his father's workshop, eighteen-year-old Joseph Opinel constructed a simple and robust folding knife in 1890. The French company Opinel is family-owned from the beginning, in 1890 to the present day. The handle is made from the wood of the beech, the blade is made of carbon steel. The symbol of the main couronnée ("the crowned hand") was already stamped on the first Opinel knives. Later, the words OPINEL and FRANCE were added.
