This devolves upon theM uslims the responsibility to tell the world what I slam is, how it differs from other religions, what are the intellectual foundations of its claims, what arc its aims and objects and how it intends to realize them. The Manifesto of I slam is an endeavour to provide a brief answer to these questions. The word manifesto has been generally used for a declaration, by a sovereign, a state or a body of individuals, making known past actions and motives o{ actions announced as forthcoming. But since the appearance, a century ago, of the Communists Manifesto as an instrument of world-wide propagation of Communism leading ultimately to the emergence ot that ideology as a great political power in the world this word has acquired a new significance, as a statement setting forth the historical bases, the fundamental principles and the expected achievements of an ideology demanding a world-wide recognition. I am using the word only in this latter sense.
