About the Authors
Dr. Betty Nguyen is a physician specializing in dermatology. She was born in Southern California but spent much of her childhood in Georgia, where she grew up on a chicken farm. Dr. Nguyen studied Biology at UCLA, where she was a Gates Millennium Scholar, and earned her MD from UC Riverside on a full-tuition scholarship. Dr. Nguyen has published over 20 academic papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research extensively at local, national, and international conferences. She has been featured on Good Day LA, ABC7 Los Angeles, and CBS Miami. Outside of work, Dr. Nguyen is a certified yoga instructor and licensed scuba diver.
Dr. Brandon Pham is a physician specializing in ophthalmology. He was born and raised in Southern California. Dr. Pham studied Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at UCLA, where he was a Barry Goldwater Scholar, and earned his MD from Stanford. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, consistently ranked the #1 eye hospital in the USA. He is passionate about medical education for students of all ages and has spent many years teaching for national test-preparation companies. In his free time, Dr. Pham enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and performing card magic tricks.
Dr. Bill Dorfman, nicknamed “America’s Dentist,” is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading cosmetic and general dentists. He studied Psychobiology at UCLA, where he was recognized with the Outstanding Senior Award, and received his dental degree from the University of the Pacific. Responsible for creating smiles for many Hollywood celebrities, Dr. Dorfman is most well known for his appearances in ABC’s Extreme Makeover and CBS’s The Doctors. He has received 21 Lifetime Achievement Awards and holds two Guinness World Records titles. Outside of work, Dr. Dorfman enjoys spending time with his three daughters, traveling, and staying physically fit.
