'Made with friends'? What to do with friends? You share with friends, what you don't share with anybody else. Their opinions touch deeply. There is communication, which isn't under control; you are at the mercy of them - with joy. You are taken by the hand, unexplainable and marvellous. The other one seems to feel the same; only a friend gives and takes at the same time. Many years ago Uwe Kropinski studied at the University of Music in Berlin. At that time he belonged already to musicians, who want to practice all time. A fellow student couldn't understand his drive to practicing. He asked Uwe Kropinski 'Who can play with you, if you constantly practice?' He meant Uwe's constant practicing would reduce the number of his possible team mates. Kropinski's opinion was this way would upgrade my possibilities to play with other musicians. Both were right. The best school for each musician is to play with good musicians, still better with great ones. You learn, what no teacher and no education can teach you. By great musicians you get a message. You will recognize this sound by some musicians, but in all musical styles. Only a few sounds, and you feel it, - there it is, again - this feeling, without which everything is for the birds. That is the way you get to know your musical friends. You listen and play with them. Then you know everything you need. How much friends do you need? Nobody can name a number of friends you need,as much as possible, as much as important will be good, sometimes one is enough, too. You can be sure: at all important questions, there are several responses. One answer gives this CD! Uwe Kropinski: 'Conny Bauer opened a door for me to improvised music. It's still open and I find always news behind it. David Friesen taught me to listen! The first time I saw John Gross was in the studio at recordings for this CD. He is a partner for long time of David Friesen and from first sound, for me too.'
