Canny products are developed by dog behavioural trainers and used by trainers, vets and rescue shelters to help make dog walking more enjoyable.

The Canny Lead with soft, padded handle and positional grip. it comes in 4 colours and designed for use with the Canny Collar.

The Canny Lead is made from high-quality polypropylene and features a soft, padded handle, positional grip and a secure clip. The handle indicated the optimum position to put your hand when walking your dog. The Canny Lead has been designed for use with the Canny Collar or as a standard lead on your dog's regular collar and comes in four different colours: black, blue, red and purple.

The Canny Lead also comes in 2 sizes, to fit all dogs:

  • Small/medium dogs: 15mm width, 120cm length
  • Medium/large dogs: 25mm width, 120cm length

The Canny Lead comes in two versions: Standard & CONNECT. The Canny Lead CONNECT allows you to secure your dog quickly and easily, then lock the strong buckle in place to keep him safely attached without the danger that he could escape and run free whilst not attached to the lead.

What are the benefits of the Canny Lead?

The Canny Lead is a major benefit when exercising your dog as the padded handle acts as a cosseting cushion in the palm of your hand. The Canny Lead works with any collar but designed to clip to your dog's Canny Collar. The padded handle is made from neoprene giving comfort, especially when training your dog to walk well on a lead.

The first five to ten minutes are the most important part of the walk for both you and your dog and if you can get your dog walking well in this time, the rest of your walk will be much more enjoyable.

At what age should I start to use a lead on my dog?

It is best to introduce walking on a lead as soon as your puppy is old enough to go out. Using a Canny Lead with a Canny Collar your dog will soon learn that walking calmly by your side and not pulling ahead will be more comfortable for the both of you.

How does the Canny Lead work?

When you first start walking with the Canny Lead you will need to pay attention to your dog to ensure that they are keeping their head upright and that the lead is long enough to be loose but short enough so that the slip line on the collar does not move towards the front of the head and fall off. By keeping your arm by your side you can then give your dog positive praise when they are walking calmly by your side, thereby encouraging walking o a loose lead.

Does my dog always have to walk in the ‘heel’ position?

Absolutely not. ‘No pulling’ means just that, so if you want your dog to walk slightly ahead of the heel position that’s absolutely fine. For example, dogs that are being trained to be service dogs for mobility help will often need to be slightly ahead of the owner because the type of equipment used for mobility doesn’t work when the dog is in a side heel position.

As long as the lead is loose, the owner feels in control and the dog is enjoying their walk with no pulling on the lead, that’s what we’re aiming for.
