Edmund Purdom, with his voice dubbed by Mario Lanza, plays a handsome prince who, at his father's request, seeks to learn about life outside the castle in Heidelberg. He meets and falls in love with an innkeeper's beautiful daughter (Ann Blyth), but the difference in the lovers' status eventually threatens the romance.
