Product Description

Double vinyl LP pressing of this 2016 mix. The last couple of years have been huge for Pomo, going from a relatively obscure Canadian producer to releasing his debut EP on HW&W, remixing for the likes of Janet Jackson and Mark Ronson, producing "Am I Wrong?" on Anderson Paak's debt album and touring the globe with Disclosure as their opening act. Bastard Jazz has commissioned Pomo to be next in line for the fourth volume of their Tempo Dreams compilation series, following on the heels of the acclaimed Soul Clap-compiled Vol. 3. As with other Tempo Dreams records, Pomo has curated a slick and well-polished album full of exclusive tracks from friends and collaborators such as Lindsay Lowend, Aloka, Exmag, Syre, Daniel Crawford, FVLCRVM and more. Touching on the shimmering nudisco sound, plodding deep electronic vibes, funky instrumental hip-hop, and even a hint of drum 'n' bass, Tempo Dreams Vol. 4 takes its rightful place in the series as one of the most forward thinking compilations showcasing emerging young talent.

Review

Hailing from New York, 18-year-old producer Geotheory captures everything you love about video game soundtracks in his new track, "Gran Turismo (Prologue)." It sounds like it was produced in your favorite childhood arcade: it's all types of jazzy with heavy percussion and a backdrop of steady rain. Geotheory produced the track for an upcoming compilation entitled Pomo Presents: Tempo Dreams Vol. 4 out March 25th via Brooklyn label Bastard Jazz. It'll feature brand new music hand-picked by Canadian producer Pomo, who also contributes a brand new track to the project. As the name of the track might give away, Geotheory was feeling reminiscent about the music that characterized the games of his youth. "I was inspired at the time by playing old video games like Midnight Club, Super Monkey Ball, Modern Warfare 2, and Gran Turismo," he told The FADER over email. "The soundtracks added to the gameplay experience to me and was a big part of the nostalgia. After playing these for a while I was inspired to make my own jazzy rendition of an older game." --The Fader

His keen ear for funky frequencies was on full-display for Anderson .Paak s breakout album, Malibu, sculpting the breezy boogie romp, Am I Wrong as well as some choice remixes of Sade, Tinashe, AlunaGeorge and most recently, Mark Ronson s I Can t Lose (all available for your listening pleasure via his immutably-dope Soundcloud page.) Today, however, we focus in on POMO s curatorial abilities, as Bastard Jazz readies the fourth installment of their Tempo Dreams compilation series, presented by the blooming beatsman himself. As part of the roll-out, we have the pleasure of bringing you a brilliant selection from one of the album s many just-under-the-radar producers, 10.4 Rog, whose strut-inducing Sidewalking should make for the perfect top-down-ride-out-into-the-sunset type of joint for your weekend s travels with a buoyant bass groove and six-string swing. Vibe out with 10.4 Rog s Sidewalking below and hold tight for the next drop from the POMO-presented Tempo Dreams Vol. 4, slated to arrive on March 25th. --Okay Player
Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Pomo is the latest artist to be tapped up by the fantastically named Bastard Jazz imprint, based in New York, for their Tempo Dreams compilation series. The most recent edition in the series came from Soul Clap, so following that can't have been an easy undertaking. Luckily, Pomo came correct with his contribution, which features the two-part "Blue Soda". The first part, which you can listen to below, is our favourite with its stunted synth stabs, twinkling melodies and urgent kick drums. It's snappy, playful and the perfect track to take your audience from early-night warm-up to peak-time raving. Considering it's been nearly a year-and-a-half since Pomo released his debut EP, this is an impressive return. --Complex
