Qntal Vii (CD)
Qntal Vii (CD)
Product Description
Praised by critics and the public alike, Qntal masterfully blends medieval melodies, languages, and instruments with elements of modern electronic music. Over the span of two decades and six previous albums, the band has become one of the most popular in the medieval music scene. The seventh studio album ushers in a new era for Qntal. Elegant artistry mingles with danceable sounds, with the group always committed to the historical importance of the original piece. Alongside the band's reinterpretations of medieval sources, such as Carmina Burana, the theologian Meister Eckhart, and the Ars Nova composer Guillaume de Machaut, they now also advance as far as the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. One example, the enchanting poem "By the Light of the Moon" written by British poet Lord Byron, is just as well transformed into a dignified piece of musical art as "Tyger," from the poem by nature mystic William Blake. With "Schnee," the album even dares to enter the present: fantasy author Markus Heitz, known for his Dwarves saga, conceived this ode to the "eternal night."

This legendary and eclectic group ... combines
medieval melodies and texts with modern
electronic music [to create] an awesome sound
that is sometimes powerful, other times relaxing and ethereal, but always beautiful. --Gothic Paradise
Qntal continue their journey, sweeping into venues and casting spells and then sweeping out again ... Thoroughly enjoyable, long may they charm us. --Reflections of Darkness, Music Magazine
