Besides being an exciting and historic live recording made of the well-travelled band's first tour in eastern Europe, Live In Dresden 1971 reveals an important change, after 15 years in existence, in the musical style of Papa Bue's Viking Jazzband. Banjo player Bjarne Petersen had just been replaced by pianist Jrn Jensen, giving the excellent, highly inspired musicality of the band a more modern sound and style thanks to Jensens excellent arrangements and stronger emphasis on swing.
