Do the Don'T
Do the Don'T
Elliott Sharp's Terraplane performs modern, contemporary electric blues that has strong links to the raw urban blues of the '50s and '60s, while at the same time expanding the blues tradition in new ways. Originally only released in the USA, 'Do The Don't' has been long out of print. It has now been re-mastered with the addition of five previously unreleased bonus tracks. The fifteen original compositions by Sharp are all deep blues tunes that but with sounds that have probably never been heard on a blues album before. The real star is Sharp's guitar playing but he's matched by special guest Hubert Sumlin on three tracks, as well as the soulful saxophone of Sam Furnace. And, Eric Mingus and Dean Bowman (Screaming Headless Torsos) supply bluesy lyrics that never rely on standard blues clichés. Personnel: Elliott Sharp - (electric guitars, lapsteel, 12-string acoustic, baritone guitar, tenor sax, chromatic harmonica, bits & bytes), Hubert Sumlin - (electric guitar), Dave Hofstra - (electric & acoustic basses), Sam Furnace - (alto & baritone saxophone), Sim Cain - (drums), Eric Mingus - (vocals - 2,5,7), Dean Bowman - (vocals - 2,3,7), Anthony Coleman - (piano - 13)
